Frequently Asked Questions
I’m Interested, but I have Questions.
What should I expect in the first session?
The initial session will be a comprehensive "get to know you" meeting. During this time, we'll ask various questions to understand who you are, the challenges you're experiencing, your past experiences, and your future goals. This initial meeting is a biopsychosocial assessment.
Why are monthly parenting skills required…I just want my child to receive help?
While the child is our primary client, we believe that incorporating parenting skills is essential for their continued mental wellbeing development. Ultimately, parents and caregivers are vital partners in helping their child apply what they learn in therapy to their daily lives. Their active participation and commitment are crucial for lasting positive outcomes. Therefore, we do require parenting skills sessions for caregivers seeking our services for children under the age of 10. Our aim is to support your family in navigating challenges, enhancing communication, and fostering a thriving family unit.
How many sessions will I have before I “graduate” therapy?
During your second session, you and your therapist will collaborate to develop a personalized treatment plan. The duration of therapy can vary depending on several factors, including the intensity of your symptoms, your engagement in sessions and adherence to action plans, as well as your personal goals for therapy. To ensure a smooth transition from therapeutic services, we will always recommend a final session to create a tailored mental health maintenance plan to support you moving forward.
Billing
What is the cost of Therapy?
Practice-wide we accept Cigna and Aetna insurance. Please contact your insurance plan sponsor for information about cost. Insurance sets the rates, we do not. Self-pay rates are between $105-$115 for the first session. Self-pay rates for individual sessions are between $85-$105. Self-pay rates for couples and families are $95-$105.
What are all of these medical billing terms?
Deductible: The amount you pay before insurance begins to pay.
Copay: The set amount you pay per session. Ex: $25 copay
Coinsurance: The percentage that you pay and the percentage insurance pays will equal 100%. Ex: Insurance pay 80%, you pay 20%.
Do we provide “Superbills” for out-of-network coverage?
Yes, we can provide these documents for you to independently seek reimbursement for out-of-network insurance panels. We do not provide superbills for BlueCross BlueShield.
What if I need to cancel?
Our team is dedicated to accommodating our clients' schedules and ensuring appointment availability. To help us continue providing flexible options, we kindly request that you notify us at least 24 hours in advance if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. This advance notice allows us to offer the appointment slot to another client who may be waiting to be seen. If an appointment is missed or cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, a $60 fee will be applied.
